Sara is my best friend and a very talented and passionate film maker, she just graduated from NYU and also recently made a stop motion music video for Andrew Jackson Jihad and has been on tour with Bomb the Music Industry! and Laura Stevenson and the Cans.
Miss Crow wants to turn the documentary she filmed while on tour which is about the current NY punk scene into a feature film. Support independent film and emerging artists! Click the link above to make it happen. Girl needs your donations, and she looks like fiona apple.
Seriously, ya’ll. How many women filmmakers do you know? Not enough. And there aren’t enough girls reppin’ themselves in punk rock, either. Help make both happen!
Shit those are two important points I forgot to mention
love how pop culture jumps to two extremes of portraying idealized “thin/ buff” bodies and largely over weight bodies and thinks thats showing diversity. I know they are trying but those two extremes don’t portray reality. people are of many shapes sizes and shades of brownish peach olive pink ish whatever….any way i wish they just would stop jumping to extremes and just be true to humanity.
otherwise us middle ground people are going to start complaining about discrimination too :b
we are seduced by our own reflections so much so that we have become a people of narcissus. Its not necessarily our fault just a conveniently easy way to keep us disinterested in the world around us. The reality is the world has only become as large as our facebook friends lists, our social network is our reach of tangible reality, the rest of the world is like outer space, we know things happen but it’s not real, it’s not tangibly relevant to us, the rest of the world and all it’s happenings rotate around our consciousness in some strange orbit. We sit in front of our screens searching endlessly, exploring that “outerspace” trying to be informed, desperate for connection…or maybe just to allow time to pass painlessly, unmeasured, like a phantom.
We grasp for relevance, or just something to pass the time.
I know Zwan is kind of a joke band (despite putting out a really solid album), but their b-sides and demos are entirely underrated. This is pretty much my favorite Maiden cover.
yes zwan was a joke, that aside this song that I first heard on the Spun sound track is pretty great, Billy is great at sound-tracking movies, he does an awesome job (stigmata anyone) i think that is probably his true calling and much more realistic than “saving rock and roll”
