I don’t care who this chick was or what she might have done to “deserve” that happening to her. But from a humanity stand point this treatment of another human should be considered disgustingly savage and inhuman, though it happens so fucking much I’m starting to think it’s actually a pretty human thing to do. we are disgusting creatures.
me too. it’s always out there, isn’t it? that human quality of becoming immobile in the face of unbridled violence? when i hear these stories — and i hear them a lot because it’s part of my research — i’m always most chilled by the inaction of witnesses. is it denial? fear? disgust? what makes people not do anything? i’m not saying you should put yourself in danger if you see something happen, but these prolonged assaults happen all the time — most with a large number of witnesses. pick up the damned phone.
